Due to the intensity of traffic on this road drivers approaching from the west must travel past the pub an then turn back on themselves on a minor road. Only vehicles joining the A31 are allowed to drive on the minor road going west from the pub.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The World's End is situated on the spot where four parishes meet and originally all drinks were served in the farmhouse parlour. The inn was the first to be granted a licence to sell beer in Dorset in 1589. More modern history has been made in the pub too, for Lord Montgomery stayed at the inn in 1942 when as Field Marshall he was planning the Normandy invasion.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Belonging to the Drax Estate, the World's End was at one time believed to be the oldest pub in Dorset; sadly it was recently destroyed by fire and was razed to the ground but like the Phoenix rose from the ashes. The present pub is a tribute to the builders who not only restored the pub completely but improved on the original design. The slip-road goes on to join the A31 to Bere Regis.
