Dist:0.2km north<br/>This cast iron column stands on Kilburn Park road close to its beginning (or end) where it joins Shirland Road. At first I thought it was a supporting column for a former tram systems electricity wires, but I believe it to be too high. (A double decker bus can be seen next to it.) It appears to be of Victorian age, any further information on this would be appreciated

Dist:0.3km north<br/>The Maida Vale Public Library is on the corner of Sutherland Avenue and Shirland Road.

It has recently been modernised inside, but before this modernisation it held the criminology department of the British Library on the first floor (around the current balcony area).

One other odd fact about it is that it doubled as the police station in the 1980s ITV series, Minder, improvised by simply placing a "Police" sign on the gatepost.

Dist:0.3km north<br/>Paddington Recreation Ground, actually in Maida Vale, was saved for public use in the 19th century as the surrounding land was built up. Today it is administered by City of Westminster Council and incorporates facilities for a wide variety of sports. This area in front of the pavilion, called the Village Green, has an (artificial) cricket pitch.
