The present church was started around 1300, after the first site of St. Mary's in 1287 was abandoned after severe floods. Recently periods of drought, resulted in deep cracks in the dried out clay sub-soil. These in turn caused structural damage so that in 1978, new arches of Douglas Fir and mahogany now support the aisles and roof.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Town sign for Mablethorpe featuring mermaid, dolphin, seahorses, seagull, deck-chair, sand, shells, starfish, sea and groyne amongst other things seaside-y. Someone has attempted to erase the writing on the wall on the brick building. I was almost tempted to go and hire a horse myself! (Wonder if it would have been a seahorse?)
