Dist:0.2km<br/>A footpath leads across Dungeness Nature Reserve (shingle landscape) then it follows the route of a dismantled railway towards Kerton Road. The railway is a previous line from New Romney towards Dungeness. Constructed in 1881, it was abandoned in 1937 when a new line to Greatstone was introduced.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The original branch line from New Romney to Dungeness was constructed in 1881. Initially, trains called at Lydd and then Dungeness, then they had to reverse back to Lydd before heading off to New Romney. A new loop further south was opened in 1937 to avoid this and cater for the projected growth of the new resorts of Lydd-on-Sea and Greatstone-on-Sea and then this part of the track was lifted. This part of the railway leads through a gravel works near Lydd-on-sea.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The road name 'Pleasance Road Central' sounds quite impressive and when you see it you imagine that greater things were planned. However, a little like Lydd-on-Sea itself, it gives the impression that they never quite took off. As can be seen here in the view from Kerton Road, Pleasance Road Central just leads to two bungalows and then peters out in the shingle. Pleasance Road North, which is almost in a straight line with this road and also about one hundred metres in from the coast road, is in Lade, over half a mile to the north.

The road should have run parallel to Coast Drive from Lade south to the Pilot Inn, however, the plans for a great resort envisaged in the 1930s ground to halt due to the war and tougher planning laws. Consequently, the road is now subdivided into three parts, the most develop to the north at Lade, a few bungalows to the south next to the Pilot Inn and this central section containing two bungalows.
