Dist:0.4km<br/>The foundations that can be seen just beyond the tree are those of St. Helens Church. The church was 12th century but it is believed the site was originally a Roman garrison chapel. The name Eston itself is derived from the Saxon "Astune" for an ash tree which is traditionally associated with St. Helen.

Dist:0.4km<br/>To my knowledge this has always been Smiths Dock Park, named after the former shipyard at South Bank. Redcar and Cleveland Council seems to have renamed it Tees Dock Park. Taken from just inside the entrance on Skippers Lane, opposite Linton Road and just about on the gridline.
