Our ‘Healthy Arts Project’ aims to improve health in the community and independence amongst people with disabilities. We will do this by offering a mobile outreach service that is broken into two elements, ‘Health Monitoring and Advice’ and ‘Arts Classes.’

At Disability Essex we believe that art and craft can have many benefits to both the able and disabled. This is why we are offering your residents and members the opportunity to experience these benefits through our free‘Healthy Arts Project’.

We are offering a week long art workshop for children between 7 and 12 years old.
The workshop will run from October 26th till October 30th, every day from 8:30 am till 3:30 pm.
It will take place in a bright and spacious artist studio.
The cost is £175 per week (approximately £5 an hour) including all material.

The workshop is organised by two British artists: Dee Elnajjar and Anne Welford. Dee is the founder of www.coolmummy.co.uk and works as an art teacher at a south London school. Anne exhibits her paintings in London galleries and works for a children’s charity.

This is an ideal treat for children who like to create, it is educational, inspirational and tones of fun. During the 5 days the children will learn about various creative art-forms: textiles and collage, the wonderful world of mosaics, painting on canvas with acrylics.

35 hours a week may seem a lot to you but time flies when our little artists are having fun and creating. Just as if they are at school, the children will get two small breaks as well as a lunch break. They will create three fantastic projects to take home at the end of the week: a lovely framed canvas, a mosaic mirror and a textile collage.

We are only able to take a small number of children to make sure that each child gets the most out of this art experience.

Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Having been formed in 1908 we are one of the oldest groups in the world. A recent resurgance has projected the group forward and now we reall represent the diversity of the local community and are heavily involved in local issues around Crystal Palace. We are fully co-ed and have in excess of 100 local children involved.
