Dist:1.0km west<br/>This is the first pub that you come to in Upper Sundon though there is at least one other. Its carpark is a little way from the pub on a corner opposite the war memorial and there are a number of signs requesting that patrons should use it rather than parking on the road.

Dist:1.1km west<br/>This memorial marks the fallen of Sundon in two world wars, though the numbers killed were far from even - 21 in WW1, including three members of the Horsler family whereas there is just one name against WW2; R Lane. Dist:1.2km west<br/>This pit was abandoned in the early 1960s, but was briefly re-used in 1976 when the main quarry became temporarily inaccessible. The relatively hard Totternhoe Stone is visible jutting out in the middle of the face. The quarry was originally abandoned because of glacial drift overlying the chalk which rapidly thickens eastward. This sandy gravel is visible at the top.
