Dist:0.3km<br/>This piece of decorative stonework was rescued from the now demolished Blacker Hill Methodist Chapel and relaid here jigsaw style by local workmen with the help of a photo supplied by a site agent. The lettering around the arch reads 'Primitive Methodist Chapel'. Thanks to Phil for the additional information - he worked on this project and recalls this window being relaid in the late nineties.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The smartly painted facade of this pub sadly also shows how Ward's Brewery of Sheffield is a thing of the past. Brewing started on Eccleshall Road in 1840, being acquired by Ward's in the 1870s. The brewery was taken over by Vaux in 1972 and brewing ceased on 2nd June 1999. Their bitter was excellent, but now the name of Ward's is being painted out of history . . .

Dist:0.9km<br/>This track was originally part of the Blackburn Valley railway line which ran between High Royds and Wombwell. Poking through the undergrowth on the right are the remnants of Dovecliffe Station platform. The station closed in the 1950s but the line continued to operate until the 80s, serving Wombwell Main Colliery.
