Route 38, Clapton Pond to Victoria, is one of London's last three Routemaster services. After 21 October 2005, these old buses will be replaced by modern articulated single-deckers.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The 12:13 departure is just leaving for Liverpool Street at the left, having started at Chingford. The train to form the 12:14 departure for the same destination is coming round the curve, having started at Enfield. It will arrive at a parallel platform. The Chingford branch veers right, out of sight just beyond the platform. The Enfield train will be all stations, the Chingford will skip two, but gains only three minutes on the journey time. Each line gives a Saturday four-an-hour frequency here, but alternate trains on the line from the left start at Enfield and Cheshunt. Both trains are formed of class 315 units, - the near one unit, the far two.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The Pembury Estate, a small part of which facing Clarence Road is seen here, was developed from the 1930s by London County Council. It eventually passed to Hackney Borough Council and in 2000 to the Peabody Trust. A fortnight before this photograph was taken the estate achieved notoriety in the national press as the epicentre of the wave of rioting and looting that struck the Hackney area and subsequently spread to other parts of London and to other cities.
