Taken in late 1979 while the mine was still operational. Taken with a Pentax ME and scanned from the original 35mm negative in 2005. Typical Cornish weather !

The preserved site of Geevor Tin Mine which closed in 1990. Showing part of the winder house to the right, the headframe over Victory Shaft and part of the mill buildings to the left. The site is now an excellent museum of hard rock mining in Cornwall.

An excellent preserved complex. I first sneaked in to this complex in 1982 to photograph the old steam winder. The site was still working and the electric winder could be heard hard at work.

Sadly Geevor closed as a working mine in 1990. The other photographs for this square show Geevor as it was. Now the buildings are preserved as a museum of Cornish mining. The blue building on the right of the picture is the old Union hut, showing records of the fight to save Geevor.
