Dist:0.2km<br/>Low Ellington is a hamlet of no more than 5 or 6 houses. The fields around are full of medieval plough strips which would suggest a larger community at one time.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A tiny hamlet comprising one large farm and a few cottages at the end of a lane off the A6108 north of Masham. Local fields that remain as pasture show signs of earlier cultivation with ridge and furrow and plough strips. Maybe there was a larger village here once.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Much of the river valley between Jervaulx Abbey and Masham shows evidence of glacial deposition with areas of moraine forming low hills, ridges and depressions. One such hollow near Low Ellington contains a pond. In the distance is Clifton Castle.

Dist:0.9km<br/>Attractive countryside to the north of Masham. The name of this low hill would suggest the site of an old medieval field.

Dist:0.9km<br/>Tiny settlement around an irregular green. Where the last of the gritstone hills drop down to the valley of the Ure. A mile to the east is rich farmland, whilst two miles in the opposite direction is the beginning of the Pennine moors.
