Taken looking east from the bridge over the motorway just south of the Chilworth Research Centre. The slip road to the left leads to the M3, the usual route for container lorries heading out of the docks at Southampton.

Dist:0.1km north<br/>From Chilworth Drove. "An exciting development of only eight luxury apartments set in 3 acres of gardens" says the noticeboard. Built by Banner Homes. This building occupies the site formerly known as Chilworth Tower which has been demolished. I assume it was originally part of Chilworth Tower Farm which is just north of this. Although quite close to the M27 motorway I found it was quiet here, possibly because the motorway is in a cutting.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>Not exactly a slip road, this is the southbound carriageway of the M3 turning westwards to join the M27. This picture was taken shortly after extensive works to widen the M27 and the verges have not yet renaturalised. Seen from bridge carrying Chilworth Drove over the motorway.
