Dist:0.7km<br/>A road with much history. Originally built by the Romans as Dere Street, this section was also known as Leeming Lane, then the Great North Road. It was the A66 [briefly] in the 1920's, then A1 for four decades, before the Leeming bypass was built and the traffic went another way.
