Dist:0.7km<br/>The maps show a bridge and path south from here across the river through Ystrad Isaf. The path was not a legal right of way and now it is gone. The metal footbridge has been torn from its footings and now lies in the water just downstream.

Here you can see two poles on either side of the road in the foreground. If a vehicle breaks the beams shining between them a sign in the distance lights up.

Dywed y croniclwyr fod 500 cant o Normaniaid wedi cael eu lladd a bu bleiddiad ac adar yn gloddesta ar eu cyrff. Roedd y frwydr yn arwyddocaol oherwydd awrweinodd hyn at ragor o wrthryfela gyda'r tywysogion brodorol yn adennill llawer iawn o'u tiroedd a gollwyd ynghynt. The annual rally at Mynydd Garn Goch to commemorate the Battle of Gower where a Welsh army defeated a Norman force on New Years Day 1136. Chroniclers estimated that approximately 500 Normans were slain. It was said that wolves, crows and other birds of prey scavenged upon the corpses which littered the battlefield. The battle was significant as it sparked other rebellions which saw the Welsh princes regain large swathes of territory previously lost to the invaders

Dist:1.0km<br/>Lle mae'r golfen gellir gweld cornel gwersyll ymarfer Rhufeinig ar Fynydd Carn Goch. Mae'r gwersyll yn mesur 87 troedfedd sgwar ac ar bob ochr ohono ceir olion o 'clavicula' sef mynediad amddiffynnol. Mae'r gwersyll yn un o ddau a godwyd ar y comin. Adeiladwyd y gwersylloedd ar ol i'r Rhufeiniaid feddiannu'r ardal oddeutu 75 OC a sefydlu caer barhaeol ryw dair milltir i ffwrdd ar lan Afon Llwchwr a'i alw'n Leucarum. The tree marks one corner of a Roman practice camp located on Mynydd Carn Goch. The practice camp is one of a pair and it measures 87 ft square and on each side it has a defensive entrance called a 'clavicula'. The camps were built sometime after the Romans occupied the area in c75 AD and where a permanent fort named Leucarum was established approximately three miles away on the banks of the Llwchwr River (Loughor).

Dist:1.0km south<br/>It looks like this road was dug under the railway as an afterthought. The low bridge, narrow road and tight dip combine to hinder this rat run. In heavy rain the dip can fill up. In freak conditions this is one of the first roads to become impassable.

Dist:1.0km east<br/>Although this area has been a retail park for many years, this row of buildings has recently been rebuilt to reflect modern building styles and structures. It's obvious from the main road which shop is which, as can be seen from this picture, but once you've parked you have to walk way out into the car park to look at the big signs to work out which shop you're entering, that's how bad the shop door identification is in this retail park.

Dist:1.0km northeast<br/>I inadvertently disturbed a Heron which I managed to catch (though blurred) in picture. This bridge was the old A483 Swansea Chester road, which also carried traffic between West Wales and London. The bridge was abandoned in the 1970s.
