Some of the Ploughing Match rules:
(7b) Ploughing to commence at 10.30am and finish at 1.30pm (Split openings at 10.00am).
(7d) Width of furrow not to exceed 9 inches.
(7f) Competitors not finishing their plots in the allowed time shall not be eligible for ploughing prizes.

As well as being a competition, the ploughing match is something of a social occasion. Ploughmen compare notes, whilst the spectators get a chance to meet the horses.

The four teams rest up, before commencing the final part of the competition. A fifth team started the competition, but stopped very early on, leaving a plough abandoned half way down the strip.
