Anyone that has visited Leeds in the last year or two will tell you the most noticeable feature is the number of tower cranes. The character of Leeds is being transformed before our very eyes. The area containing the 4 cranes in the foreground is shown as STEANDER on the os map and is photographed from the SE.

Holy Trinity is a city centre church which is difficult to photograph. You can't get far enough away to include the spire with the rest of the church - so here is just the spire, from Trevelyan Square.

The sign partly obscured by the passer-by on the right reads "Cooper Tunnelling" - does that mean we are secretly getting an Underground to replace the ill-fated, abandoned tram system?

This office block occupies the plot between Albion Street and Bond Street, and is seen here from the top floor of the Headrow Centre car park. It dominates the city centre, being substantially taller and bulkier than other buildings around it. It was built in 1973, and at 80m tall it has been the tallest building in Leeds, but has recently been overtaken by Bridgewater Place - which is not yet complete but the central core has already reached its maximum height [[[98638]]]

Looking north-west from the top floor of the Headrow Centre car park. The 3 chimneys on the left are on the far side of the Leeds General Infirmary site. The 2 spires peeping over the buildings in the middle belong to Leeds Civic Hall - look carefully for the gold owls on the top of them.
