Welcome to Little Ealing. This is a guide to the Little Ealing area.

Where suburbia meets the global economy. The southern end of Boston Manor Road, where it passes under the M4 flyover. Boston Manor Road meets the A4 just beyond the flyover and this area is undergoing extensive redevelopment. GlaxoSmithKline's HQ can be seen rising above houses on the right.

This picture was taken from outside the Globe pub (104 Windmill Road, corner of Boston Gardens) on the 3rd of January 1987. Across the way is Eastbourne Road, and in the distance is the Alfa Laval office by the M4. The man with the camera was about to take a picture of the pub, so I will one day persuade him to sign up to Geograph and submit it!

This poster stand has two levels, the upper to be seen by motorists on the elevated M4 motorway, the lower to be seen by people on the A4 Great West Road. Beyond is the empty former Alfa Laval building, also being used as a poster site.

The building is empty. A major development of apartments has been proposed but not accepted. In the mean time the building is a huge poster site beside the M4. At the top of the building is wording: "The Great West Road - Golden Mile of Art Deco architecture". The green facing and windows are painted on fabric covering the building. The building in 1987 is shown in [[345457]].

This TVU building is very noticeable from the elevated M4 - and very close to it. TVU has some plainer blocks of student accommodation on the site. The poster tower is immediately adjacent to the elevated M4. "The Mille" is an office building at 1000 Great West Road - hence its name; see http://www.themille.co.uk/.

Dist:1.0km east<br/>Gunnersby Park occupies almost 50% of this grid square. This view is of the avenue of trees that goes south east across the park in the north eastern section of the grid square. The picture was taken from more or less east, looking more or less west. This park has undergone many changes over the last couple of centuries, part of the estate belonging at some point to the Rothschilds family.

Dist:1.0km north<br/>Piccadilly Line station to the west of South Ealing - the two stations are close enough that you can easily see people on one station from the other, and could probably hold a shouted conversation.
