Traditional straw bales, the ones that can be carried by a child rather than requiring a tractor, being stacked in a barn at Ainville, on the Lang Whang. The bales are lifted by an elevator, a powered conveyor belt (they keep falling off when I use one). The straw will probably be bought in from an arable farm nearby, at a lower altitude. Ainville is at 250m and is predominantly a dairy farm. I met some of their friesians beside the Thieves Road earlier that morning.

Belstane, Belstane Farm and Belstane Farm [South] are all nearby, but why should there be a small store, labelled as such, on the other side of a main road from them? Two doors with locks, but no windows? A post box? Is it really for sale, or just a useful place to put a 'for sale' notice relating to another property nearby?

For an excellent close-up of the former see Rob Farrow's excellent image at [[583146]]. In fact, neither are aggressive pathogens but the Pholiota may have had a debilitating effect over the years.
