This well-cared for village war memorial is situated at a road junction, where Legbourne Lane, leaves the road to Great Carlton.The Celtic Cross measures 1400mm high, and is placed onto three blocks of rough granite in a “wedding cake style”. In front of the memorial is some gravel, placed there by a villager David Norris. On three sides of the memorial is a hedge of Escallonia, planted by a local farmer, but maintained by David Norris and Ian Brocklesby. A Malcolm Blowman maintains the grass surrounding the memorial. There are the names of 17 men who left the village to serve in World War 1 and one man who died in World War 2.

A church built of chalk in Little Carlton was recorded in the Domesday book of 1086. The church was rebuilt in 1837 using the original materials. The last service and christening was held in October 1978 and the last Carol service in December 1978. The church was declared redundant in 1981 and demolished in 1993.

Dist:1.0km<br/>This is the smooth granite memorial, built by Mawer Brothers of Louth, and situated at the side of the road on a small grass verge close to the entrance to Hall Farm. It was not always at this location; it was formerly outside the village hall, but was moved to its present position in time for the Millennium 2000. There are 49 names on the memorial, all men who left the village to fight in World War, 11 of whom never returned.
