Standing on Waterside north, this 16th century building with an 18th century front was formerly Clayton's A1 Fish and Oyster Saloon before restoration by North Country Breweries in 1979 to 'The Witch and the Wardrobe' pub.

Named after Chad Varah, founder of the Samaritans who studied here when it was a Theological College. The terracing is reputedly part of the Roman terracing, there were two medieval churches on this site at one time and later the site of the Hare and Hounds Inn, later the Fighting Cocks Inn which was demolished to make way for this building. It started life as the County Hospital by John Carr in 1776 until superseded by the new County Hospital in 1878 and was known as the Bishop's Hostel until renamed in the late 20th century. It is now part of the University of Lincoln Cathedral campus, home to Conservation & Restoration and History of Art & Design.

Formerly a pub called the 'Black Boy', now the Castle Hill Club in Castle Square. There has been an inn on this site since at least 1712, what can be seen of the current frontage is of numerous building phases from the mid 18th century.

There were once over 50 churches in the City of Lincoln. Some are now converted to other use, others have disappeared, leaving their churchyards as oases of calm. This was St Martin's off Hungate.
