Dist:0.2km<br/>This is taken in Freshford Quarry and shows one of the cranes used in this quarry. Because of the height of the workings short cranes had to be used in conjunction with low wagons. These workings are also part of the Bath Stone Company's workings.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The A36 passes at the bottom of the frame. Midford Lane and Church Lane opposite formed a dangerous crossroads on the A36 at this point. The danger was obviated during the 1970's by diverting Midford lane about 50 yards to the south. The crossing is much safer but still needs care.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The hamlet of Pipehouse is off the A36 Bath to Warminster road, near Limpley Stoke. There is a pleasant walk from here to Midford with good views to the south and west, though care must be taken as the surface of the bridle way is badly broken up in places due to rain. OS Explorer 155 is useful.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Taking the bridle way from Pipehouse to Midford, a gap in the hedge to the left affords this view over a field of oil seed rape stubble. Wellow Brook is at the bottom of the valley ahead with Wellow itself to the right in the distance. See [[[496960]]] for a view from the other end of the valley opposite Wellow, looking this way.
