Dist:0.5km<br/>Looking north from the lane across a large expanse of flat and wet farmland. This whole area once formed the deep Wigmore Glacial Lake, fed from melting glaciers at the end of the Ice Age. Originally overflowing south through Aymestrey, but eventually drained when the river Teme created Downton Gorge to the east. The former lake bed became wet lowland moor, hence the name Leinthall Moor (also named Wigmore and Wigmore Moor to the west). Since drained for farmland use, but there are still areas which regularly flood.
