Welcome to Lea Bridge. This is a guide to the Lea Bridge area.

Half way up the right side of the grid square, in the middle of the nature reserve. From this reservoir water was pumped by a steam engine to East London.

In fact, there are 2 bridges, one a footbridge (nearest) and also the road bridge. I don't know what the large pipes in the foreground are for. The green signs nearby refer to a London wide network of footpaths; the Capital Ring and the Lea Valley Walk.

The flat terrain and many green spaces make this area ideal cycling country. There are several cycleways in the area.

Dist:1.0km east<br/>Half way up the left side of the grid square, looking south towards Hackney. This bridge crosses the River Lea taking the Lee Valley Pathway across the Lea connecting Waltham Forest with Hackney. It is also on route 1 of the Sustrans National Cycle network. It is supposed to look like a leaf opening! Pity about the graffito.

Dist:1.0km north<br/>This area of wetlands, now a nature reserve, is bounded to the west by the Lee Navigation and is crossed by the railway out of Liverpool Street on an embankment. This view is to the north-east taken from close to the railway bridge over the canal.
