Arrowe Park Golf Club occupies a large area of the park and the 15 acre site of Arrowe Park Hospital was formerly part of the park itself. Originally owned by John Ralph Shaw, c.1835 - c.1876 it later became part of the Leverhulme estate, sold in 1927 to Birkenhead Corporation, which became part of Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council in 1974.
