Dist:0.4km<br/>The river rises near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire and eventually discharges into the River Severn at Hawford near Claines. In the 17th century there were attempts to make the river navigable and some locks were built before the idea was abandoned.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The Droitwich Canal Trust have had a big HLF grant and will hopefully soon be connecting the Birmingham & Worcester Canal to the River Severn via Ines Park, Droitwich. There is still a fair bit to be done though

Dist:0.5km<br/>The canal re-opened in the summer of 2011 after decades of closure. It was decided to revert to the original lock numbering scheme of the 18th century, so that the final lock opening onto the River Severn became no. 1. The lock photographed here, which is the last one before Droitwich, was therefore renumbered from 1 to 8. The number is displayed on a balance beam at both ends of the lock. Visitors to Geograph should be aware that many older pictures of the locks will still refer to the old lock number. [[2771102]].
