Dist:0.2km<br/>Taken from the bridge at Monaughty Poeth, at a time of low water. Look carefully at the map here. Both banks are in Radnorshire, and the Radnorshire-Shropshire border wanders about, not matching the river as expected. The reason? The border was fixed in the 16th century,when the Marcher Lords were abolished and Wales was "united" with England. Since then the river has gone walkabout - meanders forming and being abandoned. A landscape can change quite quickly.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Usually spelt in the English fashion - Knucklas, this small village is the proud possessor of a working railway station. It is also bypassed now, with the long road bend being cut off in the 1970's. Beyond the house the woods hide the site of a Norman Castle.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The bungalows on Heyop Road literally sit under the 70-foot high viaduct. From here we get a good view of this picturesque viaduct. The stonework includes a crenellated parapet with round towers at each end and square towers at the buttresses.
