Dist:0.1km<br/>Kirkwhelpington must have been a much bigger, busier place at one time than it is now, to support a courthouse. This fine stone building was erected in 1851, with a courtroom on the first floor, whilst the policeman's residence and cells occupied the ground floor.

Dist:0.2km<br/>St Oswald's Way http://www.stoswaldsway.com/home.html is a 156 Km long trail which runs from Heavenfield near Hexham to Holy Island on the Northumberland coast (although more commonly walked in the opposite direction). At this point it leaves Kirkwhelpington to the north along the old main road. The fact that the path is almost completely overgrown in mid-June suggests that the Way is not walked very often.
