Not so many years ago this street was one of the main roads of south Devon joining Exeter to Newton Abbot. Now it is a fairly quiet residential street. The style of houses is typical of this area.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Controversially filled in by the quarry company in 2006 http://kreag.org.uk/newcross.html it has been largely inactive since. The company thought to create some developable land. Planning permission was refused and a subsequent appeal rejected. However it seems likely that this land will be developed sooner or later. Meanwhile, several businesses have established themselves on the far side of the site by Broadway Road. Beyond that are more disused claypits either side of the River Teign, overlooked by Newton Abbot's hilltop suburbs.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A scrap more vegetation remains on the northern side of the site, controversially cleared and filled in 2006 by the quarry company. The land seems likely to be developed eventually. To the northeast of it, across Chudleigh Road, are residential areas and the large independent Teign School.

Dist:0.4km<br/>On Old Exeter Road, opposite the gates into the New Cross quarry site. Rather oppressive mounds of clay waste are being built up and shaped, but for what? On the right is a sign at the entrance to the town at the approach to the New Cross crossroads.
