Dist:0.1km<br/>The Tamsin Trail was laid out in the 1980's, in an attempt to contain the activities of mountain-bikers (the mountain bike being a fairly new invention at the time). It was not foreseen that the gravelled surface would prove popular with folk pushing baby-buggies and the like - inevitably giving rise to friction between the various users. As a cyclist, I'm not keen on the gravelled surface - grip isn't that stable on bends, gravel chews up all but the toughest tyres, and if you fall off, sharp gravel is about the last surface you want to land on. Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve.

Dist:0.2km<br/>Many of the scenes shown in my photos of the Park are unlikely to change greatly in the next 50 years - or at least I hope that will be the case. This shot, on the other hand, will look dated in as little as 10 years' time, as the vehicles seen here find their way to the scrapyard - among them, my own ton of metal! Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The steps on the right were put in due to erosion on the path to the left. Gradually working with vegetation returning to the old path. It is a river terrace, hence the steep slopes and easy to erode soil.
