Welcome to Kingsbury Green. This is a guide to the Kingsbury Green area.

This has been a House of Formation for the Carmelite Friars since 1996, when the house was bought from the Good Shepherd Sisters who still own an adjoining property. See http://www.carmelite.org/cc/eastfinchley.htm .

The Poor Sisters of Nazareth purchased Knightons villa and moved here from Chiswick in 1921. They provided care for children and the elderly. The last children left in 1974. Currently residential care is provided for the elderly and mass is held daily in the Chapel. The current care complex and chapel were completed in 1982. Aftermath of a burst water main in Long Lane, East Finchley. A hole has been punched through the tarmac and the hard core underneath has been thrown at the parked cars. Three Valleys staff are about to begin work to restore water to the local houses.

A variety of differing terraced and semi-detached housing styles along Trinity Road. Parking has reduced the road to almost single track status and it tends to operate as an unofficial one-way street.

Stanley Road playing fields in Finchley have fallen into disuse. Once there was a football pitch in the winter and running track / cricket nets in the summer. The hard grit surface was murder on the knees! There is currently debate locally about the future of the fields - housing or a new sports facility. In the meantime a lost ball from the adjacent primary school shares the long grass with the dandelions.

Bathed in early morning spring sunshine, the church is framed by Ivy covered gravestones. This is the south aisle, added in 1883.

Two posts stand either side of the current entrance to the church. They may be the last remnants of the fence that originally encircled the churchyard. The holes at the top of the post suggest that something was joined there but it seems an unlikely place to secure a gate hinge. Intriguingly, this gatepost has a Star of David carved on it.

The railings at Stanley Road playing fields. Works of art and labels, expressing feelings for and memories of the site, have been attached as part of an ongoing campaign to secure the future of the site as a sports venue for local children.

Some light industry remains in Finchley. Joyce's hides behind the houses on Church Lane and holds a wide range of wood products for builders and DIY.

Sited on King Street; MOT and car repair specialists. The building was originally the workshop of a light engineering company which sadly closed some years ago.

The Footpath between Trinity Road and Manor Park Road passes under the Northern Line. Water seeps through from the track bed above leaving limescale trails on the blue engineering bricks. Some poor quality graffiti adds a bit of colour.
