Dist:0.3km<br/>The perimeter fence at Menwith Hill has been beefed up over the years as there have been various protest and trespass activities. It's probably an offence to take this picture let alone put it on the internet! The entire length is covered by surveillance cameras so no doubt I was being observed. The globes are very photogenic with dramatic Pennine skies as backdrop.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The Black Bull on the A59 has for many years been in the shadow of Menwith Hill but now has the wind turbines at Knabs Ridge as close neighbours as well. A layby just beyond the pub has been a traditional site for protest and in June 2008 is occupied by a hunger striker opposed to the war in Iraq.

Standing in the middle of the carriageway, you can sort of understand why the junction just west of here is called Dangerous Corner - it's as well to keep your wits about you, with the traffic flying along at 70mph.
