It will be the heart of the village heritage website "The Kempley Tardis". http://www.kempleytardis.org.uk/ The original bus shelter was erected 1949 as a war memorial and is dedicated to the children of the village. A local reckonned it had been re-built several times after being hit by vehicles.

August 1949. Given today's date, it's a shame there are no poppies on display.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The Lord of the Manor and major landowner, the 7th earl of Beauchamp, decided that a new church was needed in the new centre of the population, quite a distance from the old medieval church of St Mary's. The foundations were laid in 1902 and it was completed in 1904. The walls of the church are in Forest of Dean red sandstone and, originally, it was roofed in local stone tiles though they have been since replaced with pantiles. There is no great east window; instead there is a sculpted stone relief of the Crucifixion (designed by Randall Wells and made by Walter James). [[[2596747]]]
