Lawnswood Graveyard & Crematorium is situated on Otley Road, Leeds and is in the south-eastern section of this "square". The grounds are somewhat dishevelled and there is damage to many of the memorial plaques on the footpath edges. There is a small tearoom near the entrance to the crematorium, which is also the site for a number of waste containers. The tower in the centre of the photograph is, in fact, the crematorium chimney. 200 housing association flats (4 per building) were built here in the 1930s. Now they are considered investment properties.

This stone shows the distance to many well known places in Leeds in miles and furlongs. There is still some lead left in the letter grooves.

Fortunately when Holt Park Centre was built in the 1970's, they kept these old buildings which are just to the south of it. Now it's a pub.

The parade of shops on the south side of the centre. 20 years ago, most of the shops were occupied, now there is a charity shop, the ABC Coffee Shop (run by a local charity), and the office of the local MP, Greg Mulholland. The rest are empty, and will probably remain so until redevelopment which is planned. See also [[[620972]]] and [[[628900]]]
