This is to supplement the previously-submitted image with a different angle and information from a board near to the weir: “The fish pass was installed in 2003 by the Environment Agency Wales Fishing Wales Project. The new pass allows migratory fish to enter the river to complete their life cycle.” There is more, but I will submit an image of the board. The New Bridge is in the distance.

Located behind the Council offices in Haverfordwest.

An intriguing name for a lane that links Bridge Street with the river. There must have been literally a 'hole' in the castle defences providing riverside access in days gone by. A rather nice silversmith/jewellers called Bosanquet occupies the building facing us. The building with the fire escape is that of Ocky Whites, a long established local business.

This old fashioned boot is painted on the end of a building beside the post office in Quay Street - the cobbler operates below. (Perhaps the old woman who lived in a shoe has found a way of keeping her children quiet!)

The old boot on the side of the building has outlasted the cobblers themselves. The Rees family, David and son Andrew, were cobblers here and in other parts of town but they moved on and another took over but didn't last. Today's throwaway society would rather buy new but maybe the current 'credit crunch' will precipitate a return of the oldfashioned cobbler.

Pub on the quayside is a reminder that Haverfordwest was once a busy commercial port, trading with not only Bristol but with many other Western ports. Old warehouses can be seen beyond.
