Dist:0.3km<br/>The name is from a row of terrace houses, now demolished, so-called because of a skirmish during the civil war of the 17C. On the hill, at c.320m AOD, is the lower end of the town of Queensbury. The highest part of Queensbury, a housing estate at Mountain, is over 365m AOD.

Dist:0.4km<br/>A late 17C farmhouse, with two long mullioned windows on each storey. The wing to the right is a barn, probably added in the 18C. See previous photograph for details of the datestone etc.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The datestone has the initials R V N in fancy letters, and the date 1699 split by a wheel motif. The lintel is arched in Tudor style, but with scrolled ends to the drip-moulding. The window above is a vertical ellipse, with a decorated surround. The windows have chamfered mullions.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Queensbury is on the right, the boundary runs down the centre of the track, which is one of the so-called 'white' roads that has not been given a right-of-way status. Its use by vehicles is severely limited by the huge blocks of stone on it a little way down the hill.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This wall contained the spoil from a quarry, and is topped by a field wall. One of the footpath signs points right, to the opening in the wall and a surprise (see next photograph).

Dist:0.5km<br/>This valley has been scarred by quarrying, but has been made into a pasture. The edge of a spoil heap is on the left. The house and barn are just over the grid line, and are called Blake Hill End, though the hill behind has the old spelling, Bleak Hill. The barn has small semi-circular windows in the gable-end; these occur quite frequently around here. The lane has a high stone retaining wall on the left side.
