Dist:1.0km north<br/>Despite its size, the Civic Centre is not visible from Lampton Road, it is slightly off-set from the main road and hidden by an ugly car park and some welcome trees and shrubs.

Dist:1.0km south<br/>The area is still referred to as Whitton Park. The Houses were built on what used to be Whitton Park and Whitton Park House (the mansion of the Gostling family). Whitton Park House was demolished in 1911 after the estate was sold for development.

Dist:1.0km west<br/>The main geographical feature of this square are the old cavalry barracks in Beavers Lane but they were not keen on a photograph being taken. Nearby at the junction of Beaver Lane and Martindale Road is this infant school.

Dist:1.0km south<br/>This is the ex-LSWR station, later British Railways. The road bridge just west of the station carries Whitton Road, part of the B361 from Hounslow to Twickenham. Hounslow town centre is about half a mile north of this station, and is nearer to the London Transport station, Hounslow Central.

Dist:1.0km south<br/>The badly-faded sign seems to depict a very early railway locomotive. I believe 'North Star' was the name of an early broad-gauge locomotive on the Great Western railway, so it would not have run in Hounslow, which was not reached by the railway until 1850, by which time locomotive design had progressed well beyond that of the machine depicted here.
