The road is the A60 between Nottingham and Loughborough

At the junction with Wymeswold Road in the centre of this small Leicestershire village. Peeking above the trees is the tower of the former church of St Leonard, and further along on the left is the Packe Arms.

This is the main A60 Nottingham - Loughborough road. The sharp bend in the middle of the village does help to keep speeds down; much of the rural extent of the road is restricted to 50 mph.

The writing is just about legible at this scale. The Inn was formerly the Marquis of Granby, but was renamed to honour the work put in to improving by C J Packe in the 19th century. A stone commemorating this is visible built into the far wall.

Attractive brick house from around 1800 - seen to better advantage with the leaves missing from the trees. Listed Grade II.

Late 18th century, although the core may be earlier. Note the unusual extension of the façade to avoid an angled edge where the side eaves are lower than the front. The front door has an overlight with fine tracery, not visible in this view. Listed Grade II.

Estate cottages built for the Packe family of Prestwold Hall, dated 1853. Roofed with Swithland slate. Note also the diamond latticed windows. Listed Grade II.
