Dist:0.1km<br/>This crane, situated near Hall House Bridge, on the Bridgewater Canal near Leigh, is one of several which are located at intervals along the canal's length to allow boards to be dropped into slots in the banks (look at the bank just in front of the crane). These allow sections of the canal to be isolated in the event of a leak.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Tufted carpet manufacturers. Two mills with a common boiler house and chimney. No. 2 closest to the camera houses a disused cross compound mill engine - the biggest of its type to survive. Is listed and attempts to remove it were foiled with the support of the International Stationary Steam Engine Society.
