The Westbury White Horse [[ST8951]] gleams in the sun on a distant hillside with the plume from the Lafarge Cement Works chimney [[ST8852]] just about visible to the left of it. Nearer the camera Nunney lurks in the dark depression on the other side of the field.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Two roads due for re-classification. According the OS Explorer 142 the road ahead is a road generally less than 4m wide and the road passing left to right is a road generally more than 4m wide. I have seen B roads narrower than both.

Dist:0.7km<br/>A view looking northwest across a local access road towards the Bear Inn at Holwell. This road was once the main A361 before a new bridge was built over the brook and the road re-aligned with a crawler lane up Holwell Hill to avoid congestion with the many heavy vehicles carrying stone from the local quarries.

Dist:0.7km<br/>The route of the old A361 follows the narrow road to the right. Leaving Frome to the west this road was full of twists and turns until major improvements during the 1970's, here is one of them.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Then Nunney Catch and the Frome bypass. If you want a day out try following the A361 as far as it goes and be prepared to stop on the way. Some interesting places.

Dist:0.8km<br/>The field here appears to have received its annual manure feast. Further over the south part of Frome appears, and beyond that the White Horse at Westbury puts in a rather dull appearance due to cloud.

Dist:0.9km<br/>This road forms a link between Mells and the A361 to the south. Although still classified as a minor road recent widening has surely improved its status. There is a good deal of quarry traffic in this area.
