Dist:0.2km<br/>A tributary of the Cuckmere River which rises near Broomham and whose confluence lies to the east of Wickstreet near Arlington. Here it forms the parish boundary between Chiddingly and Ripe.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Unnamed on Chiddingly's 1839 tithe map but it was created after the enclosure of Dicker Common in 1813 and has a stream running at its base whilst the apex, just visible in the distance, is located next to the Chalvington Road and Sheepcote Lane road junction. The former's route marked by the trees on the right hand side.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The original course of the road meandered across Dicker Common until its enclosure in 1813 whereupon the course followed the rulers of the planners following a straight line up to the new junction with Sheepcote lane then turning left and continuing in a straight line to the Golden Cross Inn.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Minor road linking Golden Cross to Chalvington. The straightness of the road here is due to it being a result of the enclosure of Dicker Common in the mid 19th century. Nearly all of the roads and some green lanes are straight between Holmes Hill and Boship Farm and gives some idea of the size of the common.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Looking north where the road from Chalvington turns left and heads for Golden Cross. Sheepcote Lane which turns right is a dead end but follows the route of the track from [[TQ5411]] before ending at Semeston Croft [[TQ5309]] and becoming a track again until reaching Chalvington. The northern route has not become a road and meets up with the track seen in TQ5411 a mile or so east.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The name of the field according to Chiddingly's 1839 tithe map that was created after the enclosure of Dicker Common in 1813, this is the eastern portion of [[2770382]]. The ridges on the slope remind me of those on Chailey Common which exist near entrance/exit points made over the centuries by cattle driven in to graze.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The name of the field according to the 1838 tithe map and given it due to its proximity to the former Dicker Common which lay across the parish border to the north of the field.

Dist:0.5km<br/>The house dates from 16th or 17th century and on the immediate border with the former Dicker Common where it most likely originally had grazing rights. Not sure about the dating of the old oast house to the left but the building looks of some antiquity from this vantage point. The farm lies within Chalvington with the parish boundary following the stream in the foreground.
