Dist:0.4km north<br/>Looking south east from Tufnell Park Underground station. Brecknock Road was named in 1869 after the Marquis of Camden who was also the Earl of Brecknock. Most of the substantial Victorian houses have long been split up into flats.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>Looking along Tufnell Park Road towards Tufnell Park Underground station. Tufnell Park acquired its name from a William Tufnell who held the Manor of Barnsbury in 1753; the manor passed to George Tufnell, a brewer, in 1797. Today these mid-Victorian terraced houses are well looked after and attract high prices.

Dist:0.4km north<br/>This is the broad expanse of Lady Margaret Road heading from Leighton Road towards Brecknock Road. The church spire on the right belongs to Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church, built in 1864. This Church is unusual in that it was built as a Methodist Church but changed hands in 1970 when the local Catholic church wanted more space and the Methodists less.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>This station acquired a new importance when the cross-river Thameslink services began in 1986. The two platforms on the left are used for local stopping trains from (mainly) St Albans City to the Sutton/Wimbledon loop. The two on the right are for fast Thameslink services, mostly from Bedford to Brighton or Gatwick Airport, which do not stop here. There are two more tracks without platforms on the far right, used for express Midland Main Line services to Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>I do not know if these open iron sheds were designed to serve as bicycle storage, but that seems to be their main use. Many years ago, there were buildings on this bridge forming the entrance to Kentish Town (Midland Railway) station, but I do not think the present structures have any relationship to these. Doubtless smokers will welcome them - there are even seats provided.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>There are many of these attractive terra-cotta buildings still remaining at Underground stations in London. In this case, the building also serves as the entrance for the main-line platforms at Kentish Town.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>As a supplementary to [[609295]], here is a view showing a Class 319 unit destined for Brighton passing through Platform 1 at Kentish Town, (it will not stop here).

Dist:0.6km north<br/>This platform is used for local stopping services which continue to St. Pancras International (from 9 December 2007), Farringdon, City Thameslink and after that to Sutton by either of two routes. Also using this track, but not stopping, are some services to Brighton. In all, there are six tracks through Kentish Town, of which four are provided with platforms, but only platforms 1 and 2 are regularly used.
