Dist:0.5km<br/>Looking, unusually to the north, towards the chancel which contains some of the oldest church stones in Scotland. The font basin, which was dedicated in 1937 but is place atop a pillar from an 8th. century Saxon Church. Many other stones from old churches, believed to stretch back to the 6th. century are built around the Saxon pillar. The first church on the present site, was built in the 12th. century and was in the Diocese of Glasgow before being granted to Jedburgh Abbey. A new church was built in 1692 before being replaced with another new church, the present in 1693. The tower of the church was later converted to house the wonderful chancel area we now see.
