Dist:0.6km<br/>The Ships graveyard at Purton is a must see place. It contains the finest collections of small wooden ships in the UK, and an important example of our marine heritage.

Dist:0.6km<br/>This boat can be found at the southern end of the 'boat graveyard' at Purton. It is the last known example of a Kennet Barge and probably the last remaining vessel from over 100 years of boatbuilding at Honey Street, near Pewsey. More details can be found on the Friends of Purton website http://www.friendsofpurton.org.uk/Vessels/Harriett.htm. An archaeological report entitled 'Purton Hulks Recording Project 2008' can be found at http://www.friendsofpurton.org.uk/Docs/PURTON_HULKS_RECORDING_PROJECT_FINAL.pdf#zoom=100% This gives the position of the boat as SO 6824 0406 so there is a discrepancy with the Google aerial photography on Geograph which is how I have located the photo.

Dist:0.6km<br/>The Tirley was 81ft long with a gross tonnage of 53, it was built in Gloucester in 1900 by Joseph Barnard and beached here beside the Severn at Purton in January 1946.
