Dist:0.7km<br/>The western end of the tunnel. Now an ancient monument. Opened in 1819 it is 378 yards long. The stonework at both ends and under the water line is limestone but the rest of the tunnel is brick built the bricks being produced locally at Heversham. There are approximately 4 million bricks in the tunnel and at the time of building this was the biggest brick built structure in England north of the Mersey.

Dist:0.8km<br/>The egg farm is derelict as a result of changes to the EU regulations about welfare of hens. Currently there is planning permission on the site for it to become a holiday lodge park or housing. Any development would be better than dereliction.
