Dist:0.2km<br/>A very sharp and narrow S-bend is beyond the appropriate road sign. On the right is a farm cottage and, beyond it, the same barn as in [[40477]]. The side of the barn's pitched roof facing the lane was rethatched a few years ago. At the time of this photograph, the other side of the roof, not visible here, had been stripped of its old thatch and was open to the elements, presumably awaiting the thatcher.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The northern part of Hensting Lane was given a 45mm course of new tarmacadam on top of the existing surface. It began here at Hensting Farm and extended up to the Whites Hill crossroads.

Dist:0.7km<br/>A 45mm course of new tarmacadam was laid on top of the existing road surface, using here the F121-4W/D wheeled paver machine. Unfortunately, it was not laid into the informal but absolutely essential passing places made by the traffic, such as the one in bottom left of this photo. Cars have been known to get punctures riding up and down the edge of the old tarmac here.
