Beyond is the largest of the disused gravel pit lakes, simply called Testwood Lake. The field in the foreground was part of the gravel works in the 1980s and 90s.

Dist:0.1km<br/>This is the paved area outside the entrance to Testwood Lakes study centre - the carved wooden goose reminds you that this site is a nature reserve, in part designed to attract wildfowl. The centre is run by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, and is usually open at weekends. The reserve itself is open all year round.

Dist:0.2km<br/>This replica bronze age house outside the Testwood Lakes study centre is similar to the houses the area's inhabitants would have lived in around 3000 years ago. This grassy slope was part of a gravel works in the 1980s and 90s and a prehistoric wooden boat was found preserved under the gravel.

Dist:0.3km<br/>This gravel path provides "wheelchair-friendly" access to the bird hide from the study centre at Testwood Lakes nature reserve. The alder coppice has been tidied up and some of the trimmings have been used to edge the path.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Testwood Lake is an old gravel pit that has been allowed to flood 'naturally' as part of the Testwood Lakes nature reserve. Here each pole of the fenced-off area is topped with a seagull. The round building in the distance is the pumping station. The water level here is unusually high - compare with [[131947]].

Dist:0.3km<br/>This pond is nearly 200 metres to the northwest of the Testwood Lakes study centre, and is used for 'pond-dipping' activities. The nature reserve, run by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is newer, but very similar to, the reserve at Blashford Lakes (near Ringwood). At Blashford the pond is immediately behind the study centre.
