Almost 1000 feet above sea level, it boasted fine views of the Pennines and the local valley, and was a favourite with tourists and walkers. It closed around 2005, and has been empty ever since. A fire in 2010 (http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/8/news/47478/blaze-wrecks-scouthead-pub Oldham Chronicle) has left it derelict.

Dist:0.4km<br/>A boarded-up pub at the junction of the A62 and Platting Road. I only ever went in the pub once - around thirty years ago. I seem to recall a picture of Queen Elizabeth II (the royal person, not the ship) on the wall.

Dist:0.4km<br/>The bus, on Route 350 destined for Oldham, has just left the stop near the disused 'Star Inn'. A ride on this route, which runs from Ashton to Oldham by a very circuitous route via Delph, is highly recommended as an introduction to this beautiful area of the Pennines, with many steep hills and sharp bends.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This former church built in 1889 is being converted into a conference and exhibition centre.
The church, once St Paul's in Scouthead, will become the home of Focus Education UK.
It is to be renamed the Talking Point Conference and Exhibition Centre and will offer seven conference rooms holding groups of up to 70.
Focus bought the church in 2006 and are now converting the ground floor into offices, with two storeys of conference rooms above.
