Taken from the corner of Summers Lane looking towards North Finchley. One of the first batch of Daimler Fleetlines, in its last year of service, approaches on the 263 to Kings Cross. These buses were replaced by Metrobuses and the route was shortened to terminate at Archway. Apart from the vehicles, this part of Finchley has not changed in the intervening years.

Dist:0.2km<br/>A 382 bus passes Wingate and Finchley FC on route to Mill Hill East on a glorious spring day. The houses opposite are a mix of different semi-detached styles. On Saturday afternoons and Tuesday evenings, motorists often hear the sound of leather on paintwork as a poorly directed shot clears the football ground fence and bounces across the road. The bus is PDL90, a Dennis Dart with Plaxton body, belonging to Arriva.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A dark November evening and the floodlights are on at the Wingate and Finchley football ground. The home team are in their usual blue strip whilst the visitors, Tilbury, are in the stripes. The stand behind the players is the 'Jack Fisk Stand'. Behind the stand are two mini-pitches for children. The grey sheds in the background are part of the David Lloyd Centre. Wingate and Finchley went behind twice, but came back to win 3-2 on the night.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Advertising hoardings along the wall separating the fans from the pitch. The stand itself has just a single step for the fans to stand on. It is named after one of the club's groundsmen from the past, who sadly passed away within a year of retiring. His memory lives on, not just in the naming of the stand but, in excellent condition of the pitch.

Dist:0.3km<br/>A London Ambulance Service Mercedes-Benz Sprinter makes its way gingerly between parked cars and a paramedic vehicle into the Abrahams Stadium. It was attending for a Cray Wanderers player who was suffering from concussion and was the second ambulance to attend the same emergency. The first, out of shot beside the changing rooms, was diagnosed as having a slow puncture to the rear tyre and was therefore unfit to carry the patient to hospital. The second ambulance initially turned into the adjacent Finchley Rugby Club and the paramedic, seen walking in front, was dispatched to collect it and bring it round to the Wingate & Finchley side.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The referee and his assistants lead the teams out of the tunnel for the Wingate & Finchley v Cheshunt match. The unusual colour of the ball was a Ryman League initiative for Red Nose Day and collection buckets were available at the ground.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Ahmet nods home from close range as Wingate and Finchley FC defeat Leyton FC 4-0 on the first Saturday in January. This game marked a turning point in the club's season which had been very much mid-table form beforehand. They went on to produce a 17 match unbeaten run that saw them reach the play-offs - the highest ever finish in Wingate & Finchley's history. Note that for the 2009/10 season Ryman Division One North side Wingate and Finchley reverted to the azure blue shirt and white shorts after a season in all blue strip.

The linesman on the left watches for early movement by the goalkeeper, whilst the referee watches for encroachment of the area by the Wivenhoe Town players. Looking across the ground from near the halfway line to the southeast corner reveals a view of Alexandra Palace on the horizon.
