Dist:0.4km north<br/>Looking into the village of Hermon along the straight road from Crymych. The tents of the Celtic Blue Rock festival (Gwyl y Garreg Las, [[SN 2329]]) can be seen clearly on the skyline.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>This school provided education for local children for 127 years since 1879, and its closure was preceded by a long and bitter fight by the local community when the county council forecast in 2002 that pupil numbers at the school would drop to 30 pupils by 2006. The case was taken to the high court on two separate occasions, leaving the Hermon campaigners with legal bills of £79,900. These were covered by heroic fund-raising efforts. When the school closed in June 2006 there were 46 pupils! The building has since been bought by the community, also through fund-raising, and it now provides pre-school education.

Dist:0.5km north<br/>No doubt named for the product of the local farms rather than the lamb of God, this traditional pub is as an important community resource as the village's two chapels.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>Looking back in the direction of the village, south. The lane, which leads on down into the Taf valley to the north, fords a stream by this house which is called Bwlch-y-dwr/pass over the water.

Dist:0.6km north<br/>Hermon is a small village of about 100 households situated 10 miles or so south of Cardigan. It grew from a cluster of houses around the chapel of that name and spread up the road in the direction of Crymych. This small estate is a continuation of that process. The land is boggy round about.

Dist:0.7km north<br/>The straight road between Hermon and Crymych, seen here at the right of the image, was built in the early 1800s across what was common land and in places was very boggy. The boggy land was put to good use with one smallholding making a type of grease from ingredients found in the bog while the water was pumped to the mines at Llanfyrnach. Dist:0.7km east<br/>Since the first Geograph image was taken in June 2007 [[473207]] restoration work has started on the chapel. Hermon was the Biblical name for a high place, near to God. The village that takes its name from it began as a few houses around the chapel and spread west and northwest along the road over the course of the past 200 years.

Dist:0.7km east<br/>The plaque over the door reads "Built 1808, enlarged 1835, rebuilt 1863, ardnewyddwd 1952". (Note the Welsh Language Society influence.) They seem to have a problem with rust in the reinforcment. The baptismal tank is in the foreground.
