Dist:0.1km<br/>A new 45mm surface course of tarmacadam had been laid on top of the old road. At driveways such as here, the old road surface was planed down beforehand. The BW120-AD roller is then used to make a neat join. The larger BW161-ADCV roller seen beyond runs up and down the road immediately after the tarmac has been laid

Dist:0.2km<br/>After sweeping the road, the next step in preparing it for a 45mm top course of new tarmacadam is to spray a tack coat of hot bitumen emulsion. This lorry does that job. It was not quite wide enough to cover the whole road and therefore had to make two passes, resulting in a double dose over the central part of the road. The lorry does not have the agility to get into the places, as seen here, where old tarmac has been planed down so that the new tarmac abuts flush with driveways.

Dist:0.6km<br/>Whites Hill is a very steep, narrow lane that descends into this valley from the Ship Inn, Owslebury. Straight ahead Mare Lane. Right Hatchers Lane. Left Hensting Lane.
